Who We Are
We're a group of music lovers — from China and from many creative backgrounds: musicians, guitarists, and AI engineers passionate about creation. Our team has worked at ByteDance and Alibaba, and graduated from universities such as University of the Arts London, USC, the University of Hong Kong and HKUST. Since 2019, we've been exploring the fusion of music and AI, hoping to make creation simpler and freer.
At Tempolor, we want inspiration to no longer be limited by barriers, so that every ordinary person can create a voice and expression of their own.
Our Story
From a single app to an entire ecosystem

Color instead of sheet music
In 2019 we launched a play-by-color music app with zero music-theory barrier, reaching over ten million monthly active users worldwide. One parent wrote to us: their autistic child spoke their first words using it. Remove the barrier, and music will find people you'd never expect.

Building a music foundation model from scratch
Rather than fine-tuning an open-source model, we built our own music foundation model from the ground up — a cascaded generation architecture grounded in musical semantics. Great music technology should make ideas easier to realize, not more complex.

When technology becomes a partner
AI music platforms keep getting more complex; ordinary people spend hours learning prompt tricks yet still struggle to create. That's not the future we want. So we built a conversational music agent — making music like chatting with a producer; and we put six years of work into a real guitar — whatever melody you imagine, you can play it.
